Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I choose WINW?

Our small class size, convenient location and our continuing standard of quality education makes WINW a great choice. Also, feedback from employers of our students indicates that our graduates consistantly demonstrate professionalism, high ethical standards, outstanding massage techniques and evidence of comprehensive therapeutic training.

Is WINW an accredited school?

Accreditation requires that a school have additional full-time staffing in the business office. Being a small school that already has State approval, the Board of Directors of WINW have decided not to pursue accreditation. The additional cost that accreditation would bring to the Institute would have to be passed on to the students in the form of higher tuition rates. To be approved by the Wisconsin Educational approval Board (WEAB) is a rigorous and ongoing process which results in outstanding schools, like WINW, serving our students. Non-accreditation in no way diminishes the quality or legitimacy of any WEAB school.

• Can I get a student loan?
For the most part, our students have not had any problems getting education loans through local banks and credit unions (see financial information page). However, state and federal students loans are not available to our students.

• How does WINW tuition compare to other schools?

At $8,400 for the 2008-2009 academic year, WINW offers one of the lowest tuitions of any school in southeast Wisconsin or northeast Illinois. In addition, we do not charge for our payment plan (see financial information page). We are committed to offering affordable excellence to future massage therapists.

• How many students are in your classes and what is the student/teacher ratio?

We average 20-25 students in a graduating class and we only have one graduating class each year. That number is divided into two classes for our weekly hands-on classes and labs. We also have graduates who volunteer hours of their time each week to be teaching assistants. This insures that our students have a student/teacher ratio of three to one. Our lecture classes have a ratio of ten to one. We feel that small classes help students get the help they need to maximize all of their learning opportunities.

• How soon should I apply?

In order to insure a place in our class, we urge you to apply as soon as possible. Call the school office (262-554-8722) to schedule an appointment or ask additional questions.

• How difficult is the program?

Serious students who are willing to put in the necessary time for practice and study can do well. Students of all ages, educational backgrounds and experience successfully complete our program.

• What is the difference between class hours and clock hours?

Some massage schools list clock hours which are based on a 50 minute hour. Although this is a legitimate way of calculating hours, WINW has always listed class hours of 60 minutes. We feel this better relects, to students, the amount of time spent with each subject. Our 705 hour program would equal 846 clock hours. Either way, we far exceed the State and National requirements of 600 and 500 respectively.
